Youth Corps Member Uplifts Nassarawa Community
A youth corps member, Enene Nsed Akonjom has uplifted the community she served in the past one year.
Members of the community commended Enene who served in Government Secondary School, GSS, Marmara, in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Nassarawa State.
Enene who, hails from Ikom in Cross River State, constructed 60 desks for pupils who hitherto sat on bare floor to read and write. She also provided over 150 copies of text books for the GSS library to improve the reading culture of the students in the school where there are no adequate text books for students to make reference to.
She conducted birth registration exercise for 600 student/pupils through collaboration with National Population Commission in Lafia, Nassarawa State.
Enene also conducted HIV/AIDS sensitization programme involving voluntary testing and counselling exercise in churches, mosques, schools, motor parks, timber sheds, in collaboration with General Hospital Nassarawa Local Government. She tested 539 people and sensitized 2,280 people, constructed toilet and bathroom for corpers’ lodge were they was no toilet facility for the past 7 years and constructed the first NYSC/MDGs Advocacy Project sign post. The purpose of the sign post is to educate Nassarawa people on the relevance of Millennium Development Goals, MDG, to their communities and society at large. Enene passes out along with her colleagues today.
