The National Beach Soccer team, otherwise known as Supersand Eagles this evening qualified for this year’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup after a hard-fought 7-6 defeat of Madagascar in Casablanca.
Home-based Super Eagles’ midfielder and veteran beach soccer star, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu scored four of the goals in the tough game that had the Eagles on the back foot throughout.
Another veteran, Isiaka Olawale scored Nigeria’s winner in the final quarter.
The victory means that the Nigerian team have booked a place in the final of the African Beach Soccer Championship and an opportunity to win the trophy for the third time, as well as a place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup coming up in Ravenna, Italy from 1-11 September, this year.
