7 Die In Ghastly Auto Crash in Ibadan

About seven persons including two children within the ages of 3 and 5 years died in a ghastly motor accident along Ibadan- Lagos expressway today.

The incident which occurred in the morning at Soka Bus Stop in Oluyole Local Government Area of lbadan, Oyo State involved a mass transit commercial bus with registration number Jigawa XB 633 DUT.

The Lagos bound bus was coming from Kano State when the accident occurred on top of the Soka Bridge.

According to an eye witness identified as Mama Chibuzor, the vehicle fell from the bridge.

One of the survivors identified as Ahmadu, said they were coming from Kano and that the bus did not stop anywhere until when they got to Ibadan when the accident occurred.

He said that he could not identify any of the victims as they came from different places and only met in the same bus.

A combined team of the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the men of the Oyo State Police Command were seen rescuing the victims of the accidents.

The victims were taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Adeoyo General Hospital mortuary and Beloved Hospital, Ibadan.

But when contacted, the state FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Godwin Ogagaoghene and Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Femi Okanlawon who confirmed the incident said seven people died.

The FRSC Sector Commander said the accident was as a result of over speeding.
