Fire fighters in the aviation sector have called on the Federal Government to provide life insurance policy for them.
Mr. Louis Ojeifo, President, Nigeria Aviation Fire Safety Association, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) chapter, told newsmen on Sunday in Ikeja that the policy would enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
“Fire fighters in the aviation sector should be insured against the various hazards; it will also motivate us to perform our duties well.
“Our job of saving lives and property is essential and we should be encouraged,’’ he said.
Ojeifo said the absence of life insurance policy and poor hazard allowances for members was affecting their morale.
The president described fire fighting in the aviation sector as hazardous and urged the government to provide life insurance policy for fire fighters without further delay.
He also said that as professionals, members of the association needed regular training to update their skills in the use of new equipment.
