A 21-year old youth, Olumide Afolabi, has been stabbed to death over N50.
The deceased, a spray painter and a native of Oyan in Osun State, until his tragic death, resided with his mother and stepfather at 3, Church Street, Oke-Odo, Agege, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that Olumide and the suspect simply identified as Ismaila were playing the game of betting yesterday in front of a house at 32, Omidiji Street, Oke-Odo.
Trouble started when Olumide won N50 and Ismaila insisted that he should not take the money away, complaining that he had not eaten since morning.
Ismaila got angry when Olumide did not listen to his plea and broke a bottle. Sensing danger, Olumide ran for safety, but Ismaila caught up with him and stabbed him several times in the stomach.
The deceased was thereafter rushed to a nearby hospital but was rejected and he died shortly afterwards.
According to the deceased’s mother simply called Mama Olumide, “I was ironing my clothes at about 10 a.m.yesterday when my son came to charge his phone. I asked him where he was going and he told me he was going out to play. Just a few minutes later, I learnt he had been stabbed. We rushed him to a nearby hospital but he was rejected. And he later diedâ€
“He was a promising young child, very obedient and caring.†Her remarks ended abruptly as she began sobbing.
As at yesterday, around 5 p.m. when P.M.NEWS visited the parents of the deceased, the corpse was lying in a Kombi mini bus marked XW 636 APP.
Ismaila has been arrested and detained at Oke Odo Police Station
