Girl, 19, Docked For Child Theft

For allegedly taking a three-month-old baby away from her parent, a female teenager, Toyin Gbadamosi, 19, has been arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting at Oshodi, Lagos State.

According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Festus Osawale, Toyin Gbadamosi fraudulently took away the baby with intent to deprive her parent of their parenthood at Oko-Mallam Mosafejo, Oshodi.

She was docked on a one- count charge of stealing a baby, an offence punishable under Section 371 of the Criminal Code Cap. C 17 vol. II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count one of the charge reads: “That you Toyin Gbadamosi on the 25 March, 2011 at about 5.20 p.m. at Oko-Mallam Mosafejo, Oshodi in Ikeja Magisterial District did fraudulently take one Chichi Agbo aged three months with intent to deprive her parent of their parenthood and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 371 of the Criminal Code Cap Vol. II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.

Toyin Gbadamosi pleaded guilty to the charge. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. M. Ajayi, adjourned the case for the presentation of facts and sentence.
