PIT LATRINE TRAGEDY: Lagos Govt Pays For Boy’s Burial

The Lagos State Government has paid for the burial of Master Lawal Buhari, the seven-year old pupil of Irepodun Primary School, who fell and died inside a pit latrine of the dilapidated school on Wednesday 15 June.

The family of the deceased told our correspondent this morning that the Lagos State Government has given them N250,000 for the burial of the boy.

“The government has given us N250,000 and we are making arrangements to bury Lawal today,” the deceased’s father, Mr. Abiodun Buhari said this morning.

He disclosed that Lawal will be buried at Igbobo in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

On Monday, Lagos Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, paid a condolence visit to Lawal’s family and expressed deep sadness over the tragedy.

“The Deputy Governor was here yesterday (Monday) and she told us that she is very sorry for what happened.

“She promised that she will come back to see us. Even though her visit has not brought Lawal back, we are happy that she came around,” Lawal’s grand father told our correspondent yesterday.

Adefulire also visited the dilapidated school in Ketu on Monday and promised government’s intervention by giving the school a facelift.
