Diesel Thieves Docked

Two men have been arrested by the police for stealing diesel worth N1.6m.

The suspects, Daniel Omorah, 27 and Muhammed Ismaila, 47 were arrested by the police on 5 June, 2011 at the Union Bank, Agidingbi branch in the Ikeja Magisterial District.

They were accused of conspiring to steal diesel and arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Count two of the charge reads: “That you, Daniel Omorah, 27 and Muhammed Ismaila, 47 on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did steal diesel valued at N1.6 million, belonging to Union Bank and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the magistrate, Mrs. Olagbegi Adelabu granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties who must be gainfully employed and must be tax payers.

The case has been adjourned till 8 July, 2011.
