N20 Nut Lands Man In Kirikiri

A man, Abayomi Okposo of 62, Uzor Street, Ajegunle Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has been sent to Kirikiri Prison for allegedly stealing N20 groundnut.

Okposo was remanded in Kirikiri after he was arraigned at Apapa Magistrate’s court over the offence and he could not fullfil the bail conditions.

The shocked Okposo was alleged to have stolen the groundnut belonging to Sunday Ugboh.

Sunday bought the groundnut for N20.

P.M.NEWS gathered that Sunday, who is the complainant in the matter said he decided to drag Okposo to the  police and the  court  to prove a point.

It was not yet clear what might have made  Sunday to take such drastic decision, because they seem to be friends.

P.M.NEWS learnt that Sunday bought the groundnut to eat. Okposo wanted  to eat from it, Sunday refused.

It was learnt that Okposo dragged the groundnut with him and in the process Sunday got injured in the knee.

Angered by Okposo’s action, he went to the police station and reported that Okposo stole his groundnut and injured him.

Okposo was arrested and charged to court on the allegation of stealing under section 390 of the criminal code 2003.

When the matter came up at the court, he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.

He was granted bail. However, he could not meet the bail conditions. He was remanded in prison custody in Kirikiri pending when he will meet the bail conditions.
