A member of the House of Representatives from Epe, Lagos State, Mr. Lanre Odubote, has said that he would use his legislative powers to enhance the quality of lives of his constituents.
The former Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, said this at a reception for new political office holders in the area at Naforija, Epe, recently.
Assuring the gathering of his readiness to make a change, Odubote who admitted that Epe had suffered neglect said he would ensure the area is given due recognition and economic activities in the area are re-awakened.
“I will exert my legislative powers, working together with my colleagues, to improve rural communities and enhance quality of lives of my constituent,†he said.
However, he advised the people to be united and cooperate with him in the performance of his legislative duties.
“My commitment to democratic ideals, values and making the welfare of the people a priority in my legislative agenda remains intact, but I urge you yo imbibe a new spirit of unity and let us work together to develop our area,†he pleaded.
The lawmaker also appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, to establish an area command to check the perennial threat to life and property in Epe area.
He said the command would ensure peace and stability and boost socio-economic activities in the area.
He argued that the setting up of the command has become necessary in view of the deplorable security situation and threat to lives in the division.
He added that it is not proper that policemen in Epe should wait for orders and more personnel support from the Area Command in Kosofe in the course of their duties.
