Rivers Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper After 3-Year Manhunt

Rivers State Police Command has arrested Emeka Mishack who has been on the wanted list of the Police for the past three years after the kidnap a 5-year old boy at Omoku headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local Government area of River state.

 

According to a statement by the Rivers State command Public Relations Officer, Ben Ugwuegbulam, Emeka Mishack was a member of a gang who had on 30 August 2009, kidnapped a five-year old boy.

However, following a tipoff, the anti-kidnap unit of the Rivers Police Command arrested him on 22 June 2011, at about 11 pm, at Ogbo village, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government area of Rivers state.

 

The suspect was able to escape then when the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Omoku led a team of policemen that raided their camp on 2 September, 2009.

 

During the operation, the police fatally wounded two of the gang members, rescued the victim and arrested one of the suspects .

 

According to Ugwuegbulam, Emeka Mishack had confessed to the crime committed 2009, while the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Rivers Police Command has re-opened further investigation into the case.
