Contractor Nabbed For Impersonation

A Senior Magistrate at the Oshodi Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, Mrs. O.M. Ajayi has sentenced the contractor of a recharge cards company, Abba Friday, 23, to two years and six months imprisonment.

He was arrested on 15 June, 2011 and brought into the court the same day for stealing recharge cards and impersonating one Adoga Oche Stephen in his forged WAEC SSCE June/ July 2009 statement of result for the purpose of securing a job.

Acting Manager of the recharge cards company situated at 1, Ilupeju byepass, Lagos, reported the burgling of the company and the theft of recharge cards between 15 and 16 April to the police.

He told the police that 5,000 pieces of recharge cards of N200 denomination, valued at N1,400,000 was stolen from the company.

The missing recharge cards were traced to the phone numbers of the suspect, Abba Friday, who voluntarily admitted in his statement to the police that he stole the missing recharge cards and that he used the fake results to get employment in the company.

A search of the suspect’s house was conducted and stolen Etisalat recharge cards and other recharge cards were recovered.

The suspect was slammed with a five- count charge of conspiracy, stealing, forgery and impersonation, offences which the prosecutor, Sgt. Festus Osawale, said are contrary to Sections 516, 390(6),467(2e),
