Community Commends Lagos Police, Appeals To Fashola
Stakeholders of Ilaje community in Bariga Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have commended men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos Police Command for the arrest at a popular spot in Agidingbi, Ikeja, at the weekend, of a notorious suspected armed robber called Segun Ogbere a.k.a. Shagy, who they said, had long been terrorising the residents of the area and on the wanted list of the police.
They particularly lauded the manner the investigating police officer, a Superintendent of Police simply identified as Taofeek, is handling the case, adding that the suspect has made a confessional statement to the police on his exploits and mentioned the names of some of his accomplices including Anacky, Stone, Ajilo and Opee.
The residents, therefore implored the police to intensify their effort and track down the remaining suspects and effect their arrest.
However, they added that in as much as they have confidence in the police, especially the leadership of the state’s Police Command led by Yakubu Alkali, they still want the state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola to take special interest in the case, stating that they fear some powerful people may influence the suspect’s release and stall the tracking down of the others.
They said once he is released, there won’t be peace any longer in their community and therefore appealed to the governor and the Commissioner of Police to see to it that the law is allowed to take its course on the matter.
