Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly this morning began the screening of 37 cabinet nominees sent by the state Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola.
To ease the task which may be cumbersome, the lawmakers broke the list into three, screening 13 today, 12 tomorrow and the others on Friday.
The lawmakers do not sit Wednesdays and Fridays, but they decided to keep themselves busy to be able to sort out the screening.
Those that were screened this morning included Mr. Adetokunbo Abiru who has a brother, Rotimi Abiru, who is a lawmaker in the House and another brother, Wale Abiru, who is a judge.
Others included the immediate past Commissioner of Health, Dr. Jide Idris, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ben Akabueze and Â Tunji Bello, for Commissioner for the Environment.
Those screened also included Mrs. Yewande Adesina, Dr. Wale Ahmed, Mr. Jimoh Ajao, Mrs. Aderinsola Disu, Mr. Ayo Gbeleyi, Mr. Olutoyin Ayinde, Oyinlomo Danmole, Ademorin Kuye, Dolapo Badru and Seye Oladejo.
As at the time of filing this report, the screening was just commencing.
P.M.NEWS learnt from sources within the Assembly complex that the lawmakers decided to embark on the exercise after resolving issues generated by the list with the governor.
