Police at the Criminal Intelligent Bureau, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have arraigned a woman, Eucharia Nechedo Aralu, in the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of conduct likely to cause breach of the peace. She was also charged with giving false information to the police.
The police in the charge sheet B/22/2011 alleged that the accused, from October 2009 till date, at 6, Fakunle Street, Folagoro, Shomolu, Lagos, unlawfully cut water supply to the apartment of Mrs. John Usanga, Mr. A.M. Amaefule, Mr. Davies Ajayi and Colonel Leanard Ufodike.
The police further alleged that on 27 May 2011 via petition addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State CID, Panti, Yaba, Aralu falsely accused the above mentioned names, all of 6 Fakunle Street, Folagoro, Shomolu, of threatening her life and also being responsible for the death of her husband, knowing same to be false.
The offences, according to the prosecutor Susan Ezema ASP, are punishable under Section 1, 81 and 484 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. Abegunde Davies, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with sureties and adjourned the matter.
