A 22-year old jilted pregnant girl, who had just passed her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, popularly known as JAMB, has killed herself after her pregnancy was rejected by her lover.
The deceased, identified as Tobilola Ajihun, a native of Kogi State, until her death resided with her uncle at 9, Jay P Close, Ajuwon, Ogun State.
Police sources revealed that Tobilola and her lover Simeon Akinremi, 26, attended the same secondary school and their relationship was known to their parents. It was gathered that their plan was to get married in November since she was four months pregnant.
P.M.NEWS investigation further learnt that on Monday this week, their hope was dashed as Tobilola was found dead in her room.
She left a suicide note in her own handwriting. It reads: “Please, I killed myself by taking rat poison because he rejected my pregnancy. I was sincere to him and I never double dated. So I decided to take my life and my God will revenge because I did not forgive him.â€
Speaking with her lover, Akinremi explained: “I did not mean what I said. I only asked her if she was sure that other men were not responsible for the pregnancy because she was always seen in the midst of men.â€
The deceased’s uncle, Elder Daniel Jones, said: “What she did was wrong. Must she kill herself because her boyfriend rejected the pregnancy? If she had confided in me, I would have told her to keep it so that I will take responsibility. Her mother died a few minutes after she was born. She grew up to become a very brilliant child and she did well in her JAMB examinations. She scored 270.â€
Her corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Her lover stays with his parents at 12, Akani Street, Orogun Hill, Ibadan Oyo State.
