The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, on Wednesday called on financial institutions to partner with the state government to alleviate poverty.

Orelope-Adefulire made the plea when a delegation of Skye Bank Plc, led by its Executive Director, Public Sector, Mr. Gbenga Ademulegun, visited the Government House, Alausa, Ikeja.

She urged the bank to partner with the state government to actualise its programmes and projects, saying that those in positions should help the active residents to realise their dreams.

“The downtrodden may have ideas and may not know how to go about it.

“Our responsibility is to give hope to the hopeless to enable them live normal lives,” she said.

She said that the state was able to purchase 1,250 vehicles in 18 months for taxi drivers with the help of some banks.

Orelope-Adefulire said that the beneficiaries had not defaulted on loan repayment.

She suggested that the bank could help the state government to realise the proposed car parks planned to reduce traffic congestion in the state.
