The Lagos State Government has directed that workers who shunned slated training programmes be made to refund course fees.
A circular from the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pension, directed all sectional heads in the various ministries to ensure that those who absented themselves from such courses refund the fees.
The circular, signed by Mrs Shade Jaji, Permanent Secretary in the ministry, said: “Staff absent from workshops or those who partially attended should make refundsâ€.
She decried the practice where workers stayed away from workshops after collecting allowances.
“Henceforth, sanctioned officers may be made to refund the course fee to the coffers of the state government,†the circular stated.
It said civil servants who might not be able to attend a programme must communicate such to their heads two days before he commencement of the event. It directed that such individuals be replaced and the financial benefit of such training programmes be paid to the worker who was in attendance.
