Nigeria Ex- international Adokie Amiesimaka (MON), has urged the National Sports Commission, NSC, to start early camping so that the country will make appreciable impact at the All Africa Games scheduled to hold in Mozambique in September

The Rivers State- born sports administrator, said the ongoing National Sports Festival holding in Port Harcourt will help the national coaches to select good athletes that will make the country proud in Maputo

“Talented athletes are all over the country and a lot of them will be discovered at the National Sports Festival, but most times we fail to nurture these athletes early enough in preparation for future competitions,” he said.

“If we are serious and determined in our preparation,we have the chances to excel at the All Africa Games. Athletes that will be discovered at the ongoing National Sports Festival will be adequately taken care of after the Games,” he said.

Amiesimaka also said Nigeria should stop using “fire brigade approach” which may hinder the country chances at the All Africa Games.

“Right thing should be done at the right time. We should not put square pegs in round holes and expect good results. Athletes should be called to camp immediately after the National Sports Festival to boost our medal chances in Maputo,” he said.
