Father, Son Docked Over Theft

A father and his son were on Monday charged before a Somolu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly assaulting a food vendor.

The accused, Temitope Adebeshin, 40 and his son, Dare, 20, are facing a three-count charge of forcibly entering a shop, assault and damage.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Adejoke Akinlebi, said the accused had on June 15 forcibly entered Mrs. Esther Akpan’s shop at 10, Adeleye St., Bariga and beat her up.

He said Adebeshin and his son, a student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, allegedly damaged glass cups, plates and other property, valued at N20,000.

Akinlebi alleged that they also destroyed a pot of soup in the shop, offences, he said, contravened Sections 81, 355 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

The Senor Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till Aug. 17 for mention.
