Play For Pride With Canada, Hamilton Charges Falcons
It will be a disastrous outing for the Super Falcons of Nigeria if they fail to beat Canada in today’s match when both countries clash in the last Group A match at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup holding in Germany.
Former Falcons’ coach, Paul Hamilton, disclosed this while giving his assessment of the team in the two matches played in the group stage of the World Cup.
Hamilton told P.M.Sports that this is not the time Nigerians should be blaming the team for their poor outing, rather they should see their previous matches as a wake up call.
“I won’t be happy if Falcons fail to beat Canada in today’s game. If you watch their two previous matches, you will agree with me that our ladies played very well, especially against Germany. So I am expecting the Falcons to defeat their opponents today,†he said
He said Falcons would make soccer-loving Nigerians happy if they can record their first victory against Canada, but anything short of that will be a disappointment.
Commenting on the overhauling of the team after the World Cup, the proprietor of Weekend Academy, said he is not in the best position to advise the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on what to do with the Falcons when they return home.
“The technical committee of NFF, Barrister Chris Green, has said the team will be overhauled after the World Cup, so let them go ahead and do what is good for the team,†he said.
