Ex-Speaker Asked To Return Vehicles

Edo State House of Assembly has given a 24-hour ultimatum to the immediate-past principal officers of the House to return the official cars still in their possession.

The Speaker, Mr Uyi Igbe, issued the ultimatum during the plenary session of the House on Tuesday.

He said that the former House leaders, including the former Speaker, Mr Zakawanu Garuba, and his deputy, Mr Levis Aigbogun, had yet to return their former official cars.

In the plenary session, the House passed a resolution urging the federal and state governments to put in place a comprehensive insurance policy for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across the country.

The House, in another resolution, also urged security agencies, particularly the police, to step up efforts to protect the lives and property of NYSC members in their states of primary assignments.

The resolutions were sequel to a motion raised by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Festus Ebea, drawing the attention of the House to the state of insecurity in some parts of the country, especially as it affected NYSC members.
