The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ikorodu branch has called for the transfer of the only presiding judge in Ikorodu, Justice Olayinka for alleged gross negligence of duty and ineptitude.

In a press statement signed by its chairman and secretary Adebanjo Kazeem and Adetunji Dotun, the association noted that after its July monthly meeting, it has instructed all its members and sister branches to boycott the Ikorodu High Court for one week.

The statement noted that since several appeals and repeated request to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Inumidun Akande, to immediately look into the deplorable manner proceedings are conducted by Justice Olayinka, have not received any meaningful response, the association resolved to embark on a one warning strike to protest the anomaly in the court.

The statement reads: “sequel to lack of positive and fruitful consideration of the persistent and repeated request and appeal to the Chief Judge of Lagos State for a lasting urgent solution to the deplorable state of things and the way and manner proceedings are being conducted in the Ikorodu High Court, the branch in its monthly meeting held on 4 July, 2011, has unanimously resolved that all its members and colleagues from other sister branches in Lagos State will embark on a one week warning boycott of the Ikorodu High Court.
