The National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to make power a top priority of his administration. Speaking through its National Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Abara, the council stated that if power is adequately addressed, it will rub off on other sectors of the country’s economy.
He noted that the Nigerian economy will be positioned for greater results if power is made available to all the sectors of the economy, adding that all sectors of the economy including the maritime sector depend on the power sector for survival.
He said: “We want Jonathan to put an enabling environment in place especially in trade as Nigeria cannot move when energy is zero; so government should take energy seriously so that the cost of production will drop.
“Jonathan should try to improve on the energy sector because if that improves, our manufacturing companies will not fold up since the bedrock of any economy is the small and medium scale businesses.
