Despite Super Falcons’ group stage exit from the ongoing sixth Fifa Women’s World Cup in Germany, NFF technical committee chairman, Barrister Chris Green has commended the team for their historic performance.

Falcons won their last Group A game against Canada but still crashed out from the competition, following two successive defeats in the hands of the hosts and world champions, Germany and France, respectively.

The Nigerian campaigners quietly returned to the country on Wednesday to a scant crowd at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Green who was among the dignitaries on hand to receive the African champions told SuperSport.com that in all honesty the team and its coaches need to be commended for a decent outing in Germany. “Super Falcons need commendations; they have done very well recording a World Cup win for the first time in many years. It is an improvement, they did not disappoint. I am satisfied.

“Against the all mighty Germans it was a narrow defeat and against Canada they got good result, the goal margin could have been more if not the balls that hit the woodwork. I want to commend the team and its coaches.” said Green whoequally had kind words for the team’s German trainer, Thomas Obliers.

He assured that the football house will continue to support Coach Eucharia Uche.

“I am very satisfied with the German’s input in the team; he actually made the team thick and as fit as fiddle. You saw how agile and fit they were against their opponents; there was no sign of fatigue among the players.

“We will continue to do all we can to make her improve, before the world cup the NFF supported her to attend a Fifa seminar that will not be the end, we will keep supporting her.”

However, Green believed that with a virile and viable women league in place Nigerian girls will go places at the world stage.

“The women’s league is nothing to write home about, no sponsor, no competitive competitions, it is only when we have good league that we can justly pass judgement on our girls.”

“We must make our league competitive and attractive like their counterparts in Europe, groom players and make them benefit from it, I am sure our girls will be world beaters,” he said.
