Alhaji Adeneji Adeola, the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, said on Thursday that the command was on red alert to enhance the security situation in the state.
Adeola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that already, officers and men of the command had been briefed and placed on alert to combat any security threat to the people of the state.
“We have deployed competent officers on patrol in the metropolis and public buildings to safeguard lives of citizens.
“All we expect from members of the public is to complement our efforts by reporting suspicious characters to the nearest security offices for action.â€
He explained that the command would do everything possible to sustain the peaceful environment of the state by coordinating the security network effectively.
Adeola called on the people of the state to be security conscious and solicited for the cooperation of the Sokoto Sultanate Council in the task ahead.
