The physically challenged in Ogun State have stressed the need for the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, to include one of them in his cabinet

The physically challenged who operate under aegis of the Victory Elite Handicapped of Ogun State (HERO) made the request in a statement signed by their Vice Chairman, Mr Sakiru Saubana.

Saubana, who doubles as the Chairman of HERO in Ogun Central Senatorial District, while describing the physically challenged as an integral part of those who voted for the governor during the last election said it is imperative for the state governor to respond to their yearnings.

They said in the statement,“We urge the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to give us a slot in his cabinet i.e commissioner or create a department for us.”

Saubana said if a department is created for them, establishment of rehabilitation centres and training for the physically challenged will be given priority.

He also said that adequate attention should be given to the aged and pregnant women among them.

The vice chairman urged the state governor to support the special schools set up for the physically challenged.

“Most of us are professionals in our various fields but we are incapacitated. We want the state government to create jobs for us and make us less dependent on people,” Saubana said.

He explained that for the impact of the physically challenged to be felt in the state, they must be given an opportunity to prove that there is ability in disability.
