Kween, the Jebele minstrel, whose news of an album release is currently making rounds, is heartbroken over the passing away of The Lady of Songs, Christy Essien Igbokwe.
According to Kween, the news was a great shock to her, particularly as she had plans to feature the deceased in her upcoming album.
“I got the news from Zakki Adzay on my BB. It came as a rude shock. I loved and admired her. I grew up listening to her music especially Seun Rere, an all time classic.  She had a unique voice and I admired her, being one of my prime mentors in music,†she said.
Until her demise, Kween had scheduled to have Christy Essein make a special appearance alongside Onyeka Onwenu in her maiden album-listening party scheduled for 23 July, 2011 at The Place, Ikeja GRA to herald her KweenDonCome album.
KweenDonCome will feature a re-mix of Onyeka Onwenu’s Iyi Ogogo, as well as the inclusion of her previous hit single Jebele. Other tracks in the album include kadara, J’owo Biko and Playa.
