Landlords and tenants at the Ilunla community, Aradagun in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State have embarked on self help projects to deflood the community following the heavy rains of the last few days.

Residents of the community were seen digging gutters and removing refuse blocking some of the drains in the area to make way for easy flow of water.

“What we are doing is to provide a temporary relief for ourselves. We are begging the government to come in and take over because we cannot do it well as a result of the cost. “Flooding has been a constant feature of this community for long and after several appeals to the government and nothing was done, we decided to help ourselves.
