The much expected 45thÂ edition of Havana Music Carnival, the longest running musical show and content of Sigma Club, will holdÂ on Friday, 29 July, 2011, at Trans Amusement Park, Agbowo, Ibadan.
This yearâ€™s show is being sponsored by telecommunications giant, MTN as well as Zmirage and KFC and organised by ZMC in partnership with Gennie and Laface.
The organisers also promise to treat the audience to an endless night of fun, while artistes including 9ice, Wande Coal, Ice-Prince, Pasuma, Olamide, Braimo, Arthquake, Omowunmi, Sound Sultan, Kanga, Eedris Abdul Kareem, Baba Dee and Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st, among others, will be there doing what they know how to do best with lots of other side attractions.
The 2010 edition of Havana Carnival was adjudged very successful. This concert, over the years, has brought the best of Nigerian musical artistes to the University of Ibadan like the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya (OON), K1 De Ultimate, King Sunny Ade, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, Lagbaja, the late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Ras Kimono, Geraldo Pino, Cool & the Gang, Bright Chimezie, Ebenezer Obey, E.T. Mensah of Ghana, the late Prince Nico Mbarga, Evelyn King from AmericaÂ and many more.
Havana, whcih has grown to be the biggest musical and beauty pageant contest on any campus in West Africa,Â is a content of Sigma Club, University of Ibadan since 1955.
This yearâ€™s edition is expected to attract over 30,000 participants consisting of students from various tertiary institutions, working youths and upwardly mobile citizens, families and fun loving Nigerians, among others.
Sigma Club is a social and philanthropic organisation registered in the University of Ibadan in 1950. It is known for its charitable activities that have brought succour to many through its activities in the last 60 years. Proceeds from Havana and other activities of the club are channelled towards charity and scholarship to indigent students.
