Armed policemen and soldiers deployed to the Murtala Square to secure the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua indoors sports hall, Kaduna venue of the inauguration of the newly appointed commissioners barred several media men, lawmakers and some dignitaries that were around to cover and witness the event today.
When P.M.NEWS contacted the head of the security personnel at the Murtala Square venue for reason media men, including P.M.NEWS reporter were barred from gaining entrance into the arena as early as 10am, he simply said , “it is an order from above, so please moveâ€.
The heavy security mounted around the venue today P.M.NEWS later gathered was due to the bomb scare coupled with last week’s threat by the Boko Harm sect to storm Kaduna. More so, there was a bomb explosion that rock the state on Monday 11 July, this week.
Some of the guests and journalists that spoke to P.M.NEWS expressed displeasure over the manner the security men treated them.
Suleman Yakubu of Hamada Radio International said he was very disappointed with the Yakowa government and security arrangement, saying after all, if Yakowa claims that he was truly elected through popular votes , there is no reason for embarrassing journalists in the state.
Yakubu therefore asked the governor to advise and instruct the security men in the state to differentiate between hoodlums and media men in future.
However, he added “ Yakowa should come down to the level of the citizens and identify with them , so doing ,the fear of insecurity would not be an issue.
