The Ajeigboro and Tipper Transport Association of Nigeria, ATTAN, have outlawed the sale and consumption of beer and other alcoholic drinks in their park.
Speaking through its National Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Adisa, during the launch of the ATTAN Task Force on Security at the park, the association said the programme is meant to generate funds and ensure orderliness in the parks in line with the constitution of the association.
Adisa said the task force will also educate members in the area on traffic laws, respect for other road users and maintenance of their vehicles and ensure the ban on sale or consumption of any form of alcoholic drink at the park is maintained. While appealing to the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, to take urgent steps in rescuing them from oppression, harassment, arbitrary arrest and unlawful seizure of their vehicles by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Adisa said, “as contributors to the growth and sustenance of the economy the association has not received attention from the state government, yet government agencies such as LASTMA, FRSC, VIO and others make life unbearable to us, despite the payment of taxes as and when due, and contribute to the growth of the economy”.
