Army Parades 19 Cult Suspects

The 82 Division Garrison Anti-kidnapping unit of the Nigerian Army Friday paraded 19 suspected cult members arrested from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT.

 

They were arrested between 8 and 12 July at the divisional headquarters Enugu.

 

They allegedly belong to six cult groups.

The. Division’s public relations officer Lt Col Sagir Musa told news men that they were rounded up at their various hideouts in Agbani -Ozalla area and Enugu metropolis.

Those arrested confessed belonging to – Vikings, Black Axe, Barger, Buccanneer, 22 Confraternity and Eiye groups.

 

Items recovered from them during the raids included- 4 locally made pistols, 10AA cartridges, 5 rounds of 9mm ammunition and 10 telephones handsets including one used for recording female students that were brutally forced to have sexual intercourse with themselves after being abused by the cultists.

 

The Army spokesman described their alleged escapades as nasty, terrific and brutish.

 

According to him, the suspected cultists have been allegedly raping girls, maltreating their colleagues and committing all manner of atrocities on campus and Agbani area.
