NURTW Members Clash

Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, went on the rampage this morning at Ajegunle near the old toll gate at Sango.

The incident left hundreds of commuters stranded at Amje area of Ajegunle, on the outskirts of Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS gathered that as early as 7 a.m. a faction of NURTW wanted to take over some motor parks in the area but some commuter bus drivers resisted them and this led to fracas.

A member of the union who spoke to P.M.NEWS but did not want his name mentioned said “some of these danfo drivers prevented us from taking control of the motor parks. And in their attempt to attack us, we were forced to revenge.”

A commuter bus driver who gave his name as Ibrahim Dauda said: “this NURTW members are making life difficult for us by collecting money and also threatening us. We implore the federal and state governments to disband the NURTW because they also making life difficult for passengers.”

The divisional police officer attached to Sango Police Station and his men have brought the situation under control.
