COMMISSIONER-NOMINEES: Soyinka’s Son, Others Screened By Ogun Assembly


First son of Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka and other commissioner-nominees were as at press time, being screened by the Ogun State House of Assembly in the state capital, Abeokuta, Southwest Nigeria.

Dr. Soyinka, a cardiologist with the World Health Organisation, WHO, told the Ogun lawmakers that after his secondary education at Government College, Ibadan, he trained as a medical doctor.

Olaokun Soyinka said he returned home to contribute to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria when the atmosphere became conducive.

As at the time of filing this report, four nominees had been screened at the Committee Room of the Assembly complex.

. The first nominee to be screened was former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olumuyiwa Oladapo. He was asked to take a bow and go.

The second nominee was Otunba Abimbola Ashiru, a banker with Standbic IBTC.

Next was Mr. Yusuf Olaniyonu, former editor, ThisDay newspaper.

The women nominees are Mrs. Mojo Oduwaye and Folakemi Adeosun.

As at the time of filing this report, Prof. Wole Soyinka’s son, Dr. Olaokun, was being screened.
