The Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has raised an alarm over an alleged plan by officials of the Lagos State government to sabotage the proposed tripartite meeting between representatives of the government, pools agents and the promoters.

The Secretary of Lagos State Board of Inland Revenue, LIRS, Mr. Bisi Alli had informed the executives of the agents association of the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 12 July only for the LASPAA to receive an invitation from the promoters that the same tripartite meeting will hold in one of their offices at Ojuelegba, Lagos.

Though the LIRS dissociated itself from the meeting, it has failed to communicate to the agents when and where the meeting will be held, a situation which has been giving LASPAA a lot of of concern

“I find it hard to believe that a meeting which is supposed to be called by the officials of the Lagos State government, is now being called by the promoters,” he said.

“If the civil servants do not correct the anomalies in time, we’ll have no choice than to take our case to Governor Fashola because he was the one that passed our proposal to the LIRS for the board to make inputs into our case,” he said.

LASPAA’s president further disclosed that the agents association would find it difficult to sit down at a round table discussion with the promoters because past experience has taught them a big lesson.

“Promoters are not sincere because they will collectively agree to do something but after the meeting they will do another thing. That is why as an association, LASPAA will never sit down with the promoters in a meeting except the one coordinated by the government,” he said.
