Following the recent flood disaster that hit Lagos State, a member of the state House of Assembly, Yinka Ogundimu representing Agege Constituency 2, has called on the Federal Government to increase the budgetary allocation to the state.

Ogundimu made the call during a visit to the areas affected by the flood in his constituency, saying that such increase would enable the state to promptly handle the problem and other emergency cases.

He noted that Lagos State government is committed to make life meaningful for residents, irrespective of their tribe.

According to him, “Lagos needs enough fund more than any state in the country, considering the population of people that come in on daily basis.

“The number of people plying the Lagos roads daily is high and it is costly to construct and maintain these roads due to high population and the number of vehicles.”

The lawmaker promised to personally donate some relief materials to the flood victims in the next few days and urged the Federal Government to also come to their assistance, while also advising residents of the state to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drains “as it always blocks the waterways during rains.”
