Commercial and official activities started on a very low key in Abuja Wednesday morning as many residents were unaware of the suspension of NLC’s proposed 3-day warning strike over the N18,000 minimum wage.
The Federal Government team succeeded in negotiating with officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, to shelve the warning nationwide industrial action scheduled to start today.
Due to the late suspension of the industrial action, not many Abuja residents were aware of the development and thus stayed away from their offices in the early hours of today.
The usual traffic from satellite towns into the city centre was absent until about 9 am when information about the suspension of the strike spread across the capital city.
