I Have Not Arrived Yet

Bulbwa Bernard scored a crucial goal that qualified his team, Amunike FC, to the Round of 32 in the ongoing Boska Cup. He spoke with GRASSROOTS SOCCER GUIDE about his performance and expectations in the competition

You scored a crucial goal that landed your team to the Round of 32 of the Boska Cup, how do you feel?

I feel great and happy to score a vital goal for my team. I had a tough match against All Saint but thank goodness that we came out victorious.

As a striker, what should we expect from you in the next match?

My fans should expect another spectacular performance from me. I have not arrived yet, until I play in this year’s final. We know the task ahead and we can meet our target if we remain resolute and committed to our games.

Your opponents played better than your team, what is your take on that?

I won’t say they played better than us, but I agree that they created more chances than us. Honestly, we were not at our best today (Tuesday) but we are happy that we came out victorious.

Which area of the team do you think your coach should work on before your next game?

As the coach, he knows where to work on . My job is to score goals for my team. I said earlier that I have not arrived yet because I am hungry for success. So, I am not in the best position to say where our coach should work on .

Where did you start your football career?

I started my football career in Gboko, Benue State, where I played for BBC Lion feeders’ team. I moved to Lagos in 2008 to join Amunike FC.
