Indian Charged With N60m Theft

Detectives at Force CID, Abuja, Nigeria, have arraigned an Indian national, Jain Alok, before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a count charge of stealing.

The police alleged that the accused sometime in May 2011 at Lagos in the Lagos magisterial district, did steal the sum of N60 million property of R. P. Singh Ispat Steel Nigeria Ltd., Apapa.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, SP Olasoji, is punishable under Section 390(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. Abegunde Davies admitted him on bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in like sum.

She directed that the sureties must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government for three years and adjourned the matter till 15 August for mention.
