Punch Editor’s Wife Sets Up NGO For Widows, Orphans

A non government organisation, NGO, which aims at assuaging the suffering of the widows, the orphans and the less privileged in the country, has been set up in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The NGO, called CIIFEK Care Initiative, was set up by Mrs. Ifeoma Igbokwe, wife of the Sunday Editor of The Punch Newspaper, Mr. Casmir Igbokwe.

“CIIFEK Care Initiative basically will assist the hapless widows in Nigeria by providing shelter for them and empowering them in their various areas of endeavours.

“We will also work with orphanage homes and give them the material and financial assistance that they so dearly need, especially in the area of leadership,” Mrs. Igbokwe said.

She said that she was touched by the suffering of the less privileged in Nigeria and was compelled to help.

“I want to give meaning to the lives of the less privileged in the society, especially the sick, widows and orphans. It’s something that I always wanted to do. I believe that I cannot stand by and watch the hapless die or be destroyed without assisting them,” she said.
