Leading operator Globacom has announced the reduction of its International Direct Dialing (IDD) rate to N9 a minute, the most affordable international call tariff in the market.

The new rate is being offered in a promotion called IDD Call Promo and is applicable to both prepaid and postpaid subscribers.

The three-month campaign started on July 7. Globacom’s General Manager, Prepaid Marketing, Ashutosh Tiwary, said 15 major destinations are covered by the promo.

Calls to all lines in the United States, Canada, India, China, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as calls to fixed lines in the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico and Netherlands will be charged at the N9 per minute rate, Tiwary said.

“At present, the lowest rate in the market is N10 per minute and even this is limited to just about 5 destinations such as USA, UK (Fixed line),China, India, and Canada. But with the new IDD promo, Glo subscribers pay only N9 per minute for calls to as many as 15 major destinations. This, therefore, makes Glo the most affordable network for international calls, and it is in accordance with our resolve to continue to create value for our subscribers,” said Tiwary.

He also explained that the tariff is applicable to all rate plans irrespective of day or time of call, while customers who are on per second billing platform will be charged the promo rate on per second basis for the IDD calls.

“With this offer, we have empowered our subscribers make calls to friends, family members, business associates in any of these destinations. The tariff allows them to make more calls to more destinations than before,” he added.

Tiwary said the IDD promo underlined Globacom’s desire to continue to offer affordable telecommunication services to its subscribers.
