LG Poll: ACN To Release Guidelines Next Week

The Lagos state chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Otunba Henry Ajomale has disclosed that the guidelines for the nomination of candidates for local government elections in the state would be released next week.

 

He said: “LASIEC has released its own guidelines and that would enable parties issue their own guidelines. We have set up a party committee to work on the guidelines and by next week, the guidelines would be out.”

 

Meanwhile, at least 250 chairmanship aspirants have flagged off their campaigns across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the State on the platform of ACN.

 

P.M.NEWS further gathered that at least 600 candidates have also signified intention to contes as councillors on the platform of ACN.

 

Aspirants within the party have intensified campaigns across the wards.

 

Posters and billboards are seen across the councils and endorsement by groups and caucuses within the party and intense lobbying of party leaders are on.

 

Last week, the chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Fatai Adeyinka (retd), unfolded plans for the council polls, saying that the exercise would hold in October.

 

The retired jurist said that he was not aware of any plan by Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to extend the tenure of the chairmen and councillors.
