Man Steals N.45m With ATM Card

Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit, Milverton Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have arraigned Elumezu Precious, 23, before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of stealing.

The police alleged that the accused was arrested following a complaint by the management of Union Bank that the accused on 15 June, 2011 stole N450,000 from an account with a Union Bank ATM card.

During investigation, he allegedly confessed to the crime and was docked. The prosecutor, Olayinka Fajuyagbe said the offences are punishable under Section 516A and 390 8(b) and 9 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, vol. II, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. Abegunde Davies, granted him bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties and adjourned the matter till 29 July, 2011 for mention. The accused was ordered remanded at Ikoyi Prison pending when he could not perfect the bail conditions.

In another development, the police at Ebute Ero Police Division, Idumota, Lagos Island, Lagos State, have arraigned Monday Abolore, 29, before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a one-count charge of allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of 13-year-old Zamba Omololu.

The police alleged that the accused on 1 July, 2011 at John Street, Idumota, Lagos Island, had unlawful canal knowledge of the teenager without her consent by threatening her life. The victim reported the incident to her parents who reported the matter to the police.

After investigation, he was charged before the Igbosere Magistrae’s Court for difilement. The offence according prosecutor C. E. Ogu, is punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. A. A. Famoliwo, admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She adjourned the matter till 22 July, 2011.
