PDP'll Participate In LG Polls — Koshoedo

The leadership of the Lagos state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has affirmed its readiness to participate fully in the forthcoming local government election.

The state chairman of the party, Architect Setonji Koshoedo disclosed this in an interview with P.M.NEWS at the party’s secretariat.

“The notice has just been given to us and we have been invited to the necessary stakeholders’ meeting. It is after the meeting that the party will make a strong statement on it.

“But for now, of course, we know that it will be coming and we have started preparing for it. We will take the necessary action to ensure the we participate in the forthcoming local government election in the state,” he said.

On whether the party will contest elections in the 20 local governments and the 37 local council development areas or not, Koshoedo said:”That decision will be reached eventually because the party in Lagos is not happy with the fact that we refused to take part in the previous election and the party in power puts in place the local council executives and and they are administering the councils.

“The party is not happy about it because it has set the party back. So, whatever the situation, I want to tell you that the party will participate,” he assured.

He took a swipe at the Action Congress of Nigeria, saying it is its tradition to embark on desperate defence of its lapses even when the facts are obvious.

“The Lagos PDP views the reaction of ACN to the aftermath of flood in the state as diversionary. It is indeed the tradition of ACN to embark on desperate defence of their lapses, even when the facts are obvious.

“The ACN we know is expected to put up all defences at this time, more so that the local government poll is around the corner. The Lagos electorate have been betrayed, but made wiser and can now distinguish between the tangible and significant developments.
