The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has said that the magnitude of flood that ravaged Lagos State in recent times demands that the Federal Government should come to the aid of the state in solving the problem.
After inspecting the damage done flooding in Alimosho Local Government Area last week, the deputy governor said her visit became imperative, in view of the recent complaints and calls by some flood victims on the state government to come to their rescue.
She called on the people to be ready to make sacrifices to complement government’s efforts to solve the menace and prevent a future occurrence, while promising them that she would be back with relief materials for the victims.
Orelope-Adefulire also appealed to Lagosians to believe in the present administration that it will do everything within its power to bring the dividends of democracy to them by attending promptly to their needs.
She said the state government, being a responsive one, was out to provide succour to the affected individuals, while calling on Lagosians to abide by the building rules stipulated by the state government and also avoid erecting structures on canals, thereby hindering the direction of water flow.
