Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has approved the appointment of Mr. David Iyofor as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) He takes over from Mr. Blessing Wikina.

The governor also approved the appointment of Henry Halliday as the Chief of Protocol (COP) to the Governor. He replaces Mr. Kue Ikoro.

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the State Government says both appointments take immediate effect.

Iyofor was the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Media since the inception of his administration, and lately Head of Media and Publicity for Governor Amaechi re-election campaign.

Nyesom Wike, the Chairman of the re-election campaign organisation was also rewarded with the elevation from the position of Chief of Staff to the Governor to his recent appointment as Minister of State for Education.

The appointment of Iyofor, no doubt,is a radical appointment of a none Rivers man into such a position in the state.

Iyofor, an Urhobo from Delta State has been a close ally to Governor Amaechi from their days at the University of Port Harcourt.

His appointment is perhaps one of the most radical from Amaechi in his desire to incorporate non indigenes into his cabinet.
