Residents of Yaba Local Council Development Area, have been called upon to participate in the coming council elections in the state.
A chairmanship aspirant on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Yinus Shabi, who made the call said the call became necessary for the residents to take their destiny in their own hands.
He explained that the residents of Yaba deserved more than what they were offered by the current administration.
He assured that he would run an all inclusive government if given the opportunity to serve.
Already, five political groups in the area have endorsed Shabi for chairmanship of the local government. The groups include the New Vision, City Club of Mainland, Platform Group, Mandate Group and Bode Thomas Organisation.
The chairmanship aspirant listed education, health, infrastructure renewal and empowerment as areas of priorities of his administration.
On education, he promised to provide buses to convey students in public schools free of charge while free learning materials would also be given to complement governmentâ€™s efforts in the sector.
According to him, bursary would be given to students from the council in higher institutions of learning while collaboration would be put in place with the University of Lagos and Yaba College of Technology to train youths on entrepreneurial skills to make them less dependent on white collar jobs.
On health, Shabi said he would introduce a mobile clinic and ensure that health care was brought to the doorstep of residents.
