NAFDAC Renews Onslaught On Fake Drug Dealers

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has gone tough on fake drug dealers in Akwa Ibom, as it slammed administrative fine on 10 dealers.

Mr. Ifem Francis, the state Unit Head of NAFDAC, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo, said a verification conducted in June revealed the shaddy practices of the dealers.

A total of 36 drug outlets were verified by the agency out of which 10 were found culpable in Uyo and Ikot Ekpene local government areas.

According to Francis, the dealers were fined following the query raised against them by the verification team.

He told NAN that the fine which ranged from N100,000 to N300,000 depending on the gravity of the offence, would serve as a deterrent to others.

“The drug market is not chaotic in Akwa Ibom; it is rather mild as compared to other states.

“We are working hard to sanitise the drug market and our effort is paying off,” Francis said.
