The rot at the national secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will soon be flushed out as plans are underway for total cleansing within the workforce at the Glass House. This is to ensure proper positioning of football in Nigeria.
Chairman of the Technical Committee of the NFF, Barrister Chris Green, told P.M.Sports in Abuja that the board is looking forward to seeing a complete turnaround in the affairs of football in Nigeria.
“There is a need for total cleansing of our football both externally and internally. We will fight the external demons militating against football and after that concentrate on internal cleansing of the secretariat for proper placement of the workforce. Any staff that does not fit in will be booted out,†he said.
He added: “The era of loitering around the secretariat without definite work schedules will soon be over. We will expect professionalism among the workforce to reflect the standard we have seen in developed countries and even South Africa.â€
It was gathered that there are two categories of staff in the NFF, those employed under the former Nigeria Football Association, NFA and those under the NFF. There is, however, apprehension among the workforce ahead of the reform at the Glass House.
In a related development, biometric exercise is currently going on at the NFF to ascertain the biodata of the staff. This, according to our source, is to ensure that salaries of staff are paid online. It is a Federal Government’s initiative for smooth process and payment of salaries, which is being interpreted in some quarters as a way to checkmate the influx of ghost workers on the payroll of the government.
